The presenter is a Missouri-licensed and Colorado-licensed professional counselor and suicide prevention educator. She’s been a crisis worker on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988). She is trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), plus others. She served on American Association of Suicidology’s Crisis Services committee, supporting the 988 roll-out; the Steering Committee of the St. Louis Regional Suicide Prevention Coalition, and served as a lifeguard/volunteer for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Missouri. She’s led suicide-prevention training at state, regional and local levels, for groups including the Missouri Behavioral Health Council, Missouri Department of Mental Health, Missouri Mental Health Counselors Association, and other agencies in the St. Louis metro area. In 2021, she completed post-master’s training at University of Plymouth in emergency mental health assessment (EMHA) and perinatal mental health (PMH) emergencies for expectant and new mothers. While there, she met with UK-based organizers on the National Health Service’s suicide-prevention initiatives. She relocated to Colorado and continues consulting and presenting on suicide prevention topics.
