Kimberly Hernandez, MA, LPCC, ADDC specializes in the treatment of substance use disorders and trauma and is the owner and primary clinician of 12:2 Counseling in Colorado. Her work focuses on helping people understand why a hard past continues to shape their present—and, more importantly, how to change that.
Kimberly speaks to individuals and professionals who are tired of surviving and ready for practical answers. Drawing from evidence-based modalities including EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic approaches, and motivational interviewing, she translates complex clinical concepts into clear, usable skills. Her approach challenges the idea that pain is something people must simply learn to tolerate, emphasizing instead that healing is a learnable skill set.
In addition to her clinical work, Kimberly speaks to groups of clients and clinicians on trauma, substance use, and personal agency. Her style is direct, grounded, and deeply human—balancing clinical rigor with honesty, responsibility, and respect for lived experience.
Kimberly’s writing has been published on ROTR.org, and she is a member of the Colorado Counseling Association, the American Counseling Association, and the EMDR International Association. She lives and practices in Colorado, where she continues to advocate for evidence-based and skills-based healing that moves people from survival to intentional living.
