Julie is the founder of Denver Metro Counseling, a group practice in Denver, Colorado. She started her therapist career working inpatient and for an outpatient clinic in Chicago suburbs after graduating from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2007. When she moved to Denver in 2012 Julie worked in public health and for a local community mental health center transitioning full time into private practice in 2016. In 2019, she hired her first employee. Throughout her career, Julie has sought coaching and mentoring from others in and outside of the field while making choices that felt aligned for her in growing her private and eventual, group practice in Denver. Julie values training, mentoring and understanding the nuances of running a business including marketing and SEO, legal representation, contracts, and having a good CPA and financial advisor as part of your team. She is part of business development groups and has worked with business coaches since 2014 to help her along the way and she values sharing her learnings of business strategy and development along the way with other clinicians in the field. She leads others in their own exploration of career and development as a therapist through the lens of self-reflection, values, exploring "your why", and internal drivers that can both support someone and get in the way. She loves supporting other clinicians whether they are part of her group practice or in the broader community.
