Dr. Daria White is an associate professor in counseling education at Liberty University. She received the Women and Gender Studies Feminist Scholarship Award at James Madison University for her research with Bulgarian elderly women and the Outstanding Scholarship Award from the Department of Graduate Psychology at James Madison University for her dissertation on joy and awe in four countries. Dr. White has 20 years of experience in the fields of mental health counseling, social work, and peacebuilding. She has worked in the past with undergraduate students in need of mental health services; church leaders seeking direction for their congregations; domestic violence and sexual assault victims; refugees. A lot of Dr. White’s work has been focused on individuals who have experienced personal and communal, current and transgenerational trauma, understanding cultural and individual barriers to, and resources for resilience.
